Spectra™ LASER for oily skin, pores & melasma

The Q-switch Hollywood Spectra Laser targets unwanted pigmentation including sun damage, age spots, melasma, freckles, inflammatory pigmentation and scarring.  Pigmentation is broken up and eliminated naturally by the body, leaving skin brighter and clearer.

Skin toning settings use gentle 1064nm laser energy to break up deep pigmentation, stimulate collagen production, reduce pore size and brighten the skin. Clinical Skin Toning settings are used to treat melasma. We have a ‘Red Carpet’ protocol which is ideal before a big event. The Hollywood Laser Peel combines skin toning with the application of a carbon lotion. The carbon is vapourised, removing impurities and dead skin cells, and is useful to clear congested and acne prone skin. The laser can also be used on a more aggressive 532nm setting to target epidermal pigment or “brown spots” - this is a clinical treatment with social downtime.

What conditions does the Spectra XT laser Treat? NDYag lasers are versatile lasers that are safe for all skin colours, all year round. QSL Treatments offer a fast and comfortable treatment, and a favourite of our clinicians for a collagen boost over the face and neck.

Spectra’s versatility is endless.  Try ‘Red Carpet’ Skin Toning for a perfect low-downtime treatment for radiant skin. Clinical Skin toning settings can beused to treat melasma and post inflammatory pigmentataion. A series of Hollywood Laser Peels will effectively address congestion, large pores and acne scarring. For patients wanting to maintain healthy, beautiful skin as they age, a monthly Thrive Signature Treatment incorporating the Spectra Laser is a great choice. The Spectra Laser can be used on clinical settings to reduce stuborn age spots, lentigenes and flat Seborrheic Keratosis.

What is the recommended treatment plan for Spectra Q switch Laser? Before starting treatment you will need a medical consultation with Dr Grant, during which time a medical and dermal therapy plan will be customised to your concerns. If you have darker skin or we are using the Spectra to treat melasma, Dr Grant will prescribe an oral and/or topical medication to prepare the skin for 4 weeks before a clinical treatment. A test patch will be performed before high energy or clinical treatments. Expect an intensive treatment plan for the first 12 weeks, combining corrective peels, lasers and medical treatments for conditions such as acne or melasma. Most patients then continue on a regular laser maintenance programme.

How do I prepare for Spectra Q switch Laser? Use SPF daily and avoid any irritating products such as Vitamin C, retinol of exfoliants for 3 days prior to your treatment. Do not use spray tan or expose the skin to the sun for tanning for 2- 3 weeks prior to, and during your series of vascular laser treatments.

What can I expect during Spectra Q switch Laser?
This laser is a relaxing  treatment experience - low energy Q-switch laser, or skin toning, feels very comfortable and warming to the skin.  Clinical pigmentation treatments are brief and high energy and may be mildly uncomfortable. A test patch must be performed prior to treatment.

What is the downtime for Spectra Q switch Laser? Low energy and toning treatment may leave skin may be slightly warm for a few hours, resolving to bright, glowing skin. Mineral makeup may be applied if desired. Patients who suffer from acne may get a breakout after the first few treatments - this is part of the process of improving the skin’s function.

Clinical pigmentation treatments have risks and associated downtime. Expect redness for  1 - 3 days, a darkening of pigmentation or mild wound formation. This may last 5 –7 days on the face, and up to 2- 3 weeks on the body. In some cases, for example large pigmented lesions, skin may take 2- 3 weeks to heal. Factor this into your social plans and do not pick the skin.

12 week Skin Programme We offer a 12 week initial program to target concerns such as oily congested skin, large pores or melasma, combining home care, corrective peels and combination vascular laser treatments to improve the underlying dermal inflammation seen in rosacea and skin barrier impairment. Once the inflammation has settled, we then work on improving the skin strength with collagen induction using  Ultraclear laser.

Cost At your initial consultation with Dr Grant, our team will assess your concerns and provide an individualised treatment plan and quote.  Suitability for treatment and costs will be discussed during your consultation.

For those with fairer skin and redness, a regular Laser Genesis treatment is the best no downtime treatment to keep your skin healthy and prevent the signs of ageing.
