SPECTRATM XT LASER for pigmentation, melasma and pore reduction
Spectra Laser is an NdYag Q-switch device that treats pigmentation, acne, large pores & fine lines , and is the laser that made the infamous “Hollywood Laser Peel”.
What is Q-switch Laser? Q-Switch (QS) Laser uses high-frequency energy to target skin and pigmentation deep within the skin. It breaks pigment into tiny particles that the body naturally clears away, leaving the skin brighter and more even. Because it doesn’t rely on heat, the treatment is gentle and safe for all skin types, with little to no downtime.
Skin Toning mode involves regular monthly laser treatments with the Spectra Laser to stimulate collagen, tighten pores, and improve overall skin texture. Regular treatments lead to smoother, firmer, and clearer skin over time, with a reduction in pigmentation and brighter skin tone.
We also offer the Hollywood Laser Peel which uses Q-Switch SKin Toning plus a separate step, using a layer of carbon lotion applied to the skin. The carbon lotion is heated to attach it to the sebum and skin debris, and then removed in QS mode, exfoliating dead skin, debris and congestion, refreshes dull, dry and acne-prone skin.

If you have darker skin or we are using the Spectra to treat melasma, Dr Grant will prescribe an oral and/or topical medication to prepare the skin for 4 weeks before a clinical treatment. A test patch will be performed before high energy or clinical treatments.
How do I prepare for a Spectra Q switch Laser? Use SPF daily and avoid irritating products such as Vitamin C, retinol of exfoliants for 3 days prior to your treatment. Do not use spray tan or expose the skin to the sun for tanning for 2- 3 weeks prior to, and during your series of laser treatments.
What can I expect during a Spectra Q switch Laser Treatment?
This laser is a relaxing treatment experience - low energy Q-switch laser, or skin toning, feels very comfortable and warming to the skin and take about 20- 30 minutes. If your skin is very dry, it may be better to start with some corrective peels or a Hydrafacial as your first treatment. Clinical pigmentation are brief and high energy and may be mildly uncomfortable, and require a test patch prior to treatment.
What is the downtime for Spectra Q switch Laser? Low energy and toning treatment may leave skin may be slightly warm for a few hours, resolving to bright, glowing skin. Mineral makeup may be applied if desired. Patients who suffer from acne may get a breakout after the first few treatments - this is part of the process of improving the skin’s function. Clinical pigmentation treatments have risks and associated downtime. You will discuss this wiht Dr Grant prior to starting a laser programme.
