Before scars can be addressed, acne must firstly be managed with dermal and medical therapy such as prescription retinols, a short course of antibiotics or in severe cases with an oral Vitamin A medication (Isotretinoin). If you suffer from hormonal acne, we may arrange hormonal and metabolic screening to exclude underlying causes of acne, as well as lifestyle and hormonal interventions to help with long term control. If you have cysts, body acne or your acne has not improved with standard medical therapy after 3 months, would will arrange referral to a dermatologist to consider the oral medication - the best treatment for scarring is prevention.
