Acne and Acne Scarring

Acne Scarring begins in adolescence but can leave life long scars, causing anxiety and self consciousness. Acne Control Before scars can be addressed, acne must firstly be managed with medical therapy such as prescription retinols, a short course of antibiotics or in severe cases with an oral Vitamin A medication (Isotretinoin). If you suffer from hormonal acne, we may arrange hormonal and metabolic screening to exclude underlying causes of acne, as well as lifestyle and hormonal interventions to help with long term control. If you have cysts, body acne or your acne has not improved with standard medical therapy after 3 months, would will arraneg referral to a dermatologist to consider the oral medication - the best treatment for scarring is prevention

PRP, Exosomes & Rejuran polynucleotides are new regenerative medical therapies that repair skin and reduce inflammation via up- regulation of repair pathways in the skin, and offer an additional solution to control acne and repair skin. They can be added onto medical therapies or laser to reduce inflammation and promote wound healing, with the added benefit of reducing downtime post laser or microneedling.

Acne Scarring Once acne has been controlled, Dr Grant will use a combination approach to improve Acne scarring using techniques such as a subscision or punch removal of reduced deep tethered or ice pick scars . Ultraclear ablative laser is used to resurface and smooth the skin.
