Dermal filler injections are composed of synthetic gel which mimic naturally occurring substances found in skin. Fillers offer a low cost and non- surgical approach to achieve facial rejuvenation and are popular because they are effective, safe and offer predictable results.

Dermal fillers rejuvenate the face by restoring volume and enhancing underlying structures. It is important to consider that dermal fillers are added in small volumes- the process of volumising the face should be measured and planned in order to achieve a natural outcome.

Dermal fillers occur in different densities. Dense fillers are used to enhance structure and provide definition to the face such as the cheekbone and jawline. Softer fillers add volume to lips and infill lines. Very fine fillers called Skin Boosters are used to hydrate the skin and improve skin texture.

If you want lip filler, you will require your own local anaesthetic, which can be purchased for a nominal fee or you can order it directly from our compounding pharmacy and they will deliver it to us. We would highly advise booking an LED treatment post filler treatment to reduce swelling and bruising. As a plus, it is also a relaxing way to end your treatment and is great for skin rejuvenation.

Dr. Grant will assess your suitability for injectable treatments annually either in person or via Skype.

Procedure Time
1 hour. This may include topical anaesthetic application, which can be purchased for a nominal fee prior to your appointment.

Recommended Treatment Plan
Results last up to 6-18 months, we recommend returning for a top up at this time.

What to expect
Allow 2 weeks for the product to have full effect. We will review outcomes with you at 2 weeks post treatment.

Downtime / Aftercare
Mild bruising, swelling, lumps, bumps and asymmetry are common. These generally settle in 2 weeks. Ice and paracetamol may be used to manage discomfort. Mineral makeup may be applied 24 hours after your treatment.

Complementary treatments
Dermal filler works well in combination with anti-wrinkle injections, Hydrafacial, chemical peels, ResurfX laser treatments, and LED therapy.

Special considerations

• Not suitable in pregnancy or for breast feeding women.

• If you have had cold sore in the treatment area we advise using an antiviral prophylaxis before and after your treatment. Talk to us about this before your appointment.
