why should use a medical grade IPL machine?

Not all IPL machines are created equal, and unfortunately in NSW there is no regulation on the laser industry. This means anyone can use a laser, or any quality, and without training. Less expensive lasers emit inadequate energy levels and are unable to provide good outcomes. Inexperienced and untrained clinicians can use inappropriate settings, causing burns , unwanted pigmentation and scarring. IPL is actually one of the biggest reasons for medicolegal issues in NSW.

At Thrive, we have invested in a medical grade machine, the Lumenis M22, for all out IPL treatments. All of our laser clinicians have their Laser Safety Certificates and undergo ongoing training in order to maintain our high clinic standards and excellent outcomes.

Despite the lack of government regulation, we have chosen to regulate ourselves in order to prioiritise client safety and improve outcomes.

For hair removal

The Lumenis IPL Hair Removal treatment is a safe, non-invasive treatment that reduces hair growth, resulting in smooth, beautiful skin. The unique Lumenis IPL technology targets the hair follicles, and impairs their ability to grow hair.

Highly controlled pulses of light are applied on the treated area and are selectively absorbed by the hair follicles beneath the skin surface. The absorbed light heats the hair follicles, which damages the re-growth potential of the follicle – all without damaging the surrounding tissue.

For veins & vascular treatments

The Lumenis Laser and IPL vascular treatment enables our clinicians to effectively treat spider veins, reticular veins (blue veins), broken capillaries and rosacea using the Nd:YAG laser. The unique technology enables tailoring of the light source and energy to target the vascular condition and cause it to fade away.

The laser or IPL create heat inside the blood vessels, which closes the vein’s walls, eventually causing the vein to disappear. The laser is very precise and only impacts the selected blood vessel and not of the surrounding skin. The IPL filter also targets the blood only and none of the surrounding skin. Both Lumenis technologies enable cooling of your skin between pulses, which reduces the chance of skin damage, producing great results.

For acne treatment

The Lumenis IPL acne treatment enables our clinicians to greatly improve your skins appearance, reduce your acne, while at the same time treat the redness and pigmentation of your skin. The unique Lumenis IPL technology utilises light flashes over the treated area, triggering biochemical response that will eventually kill the bacteria within the pores.

IPL is a non-invasive solution on inflammatory acne with less collateral effects than oral medication. IPL technology allows to treat your acne with specific wavelengths of light which target the bacteria in the skin, as well as inflamed sebaceous glands that contribute to breakouts.

For tattoo removal

The Lumenis treatments enable our clinicians to remove black, blue and other dark tattoos, either amateur or professional. The Lumenis Q-Switch technology enables tailoring of the treatment according to the type of the tattoo, to effectively target the dark pigment and destroy it. Ultrashort laser pulses target the tattoo ink in the skin and break it into small particles that are naturally dissolved by your body; the surrounding skin is left intact.
